I've not been able to read up on any of this thread so many apologies in advance for not contributing recently and for this completely OT post ... but I know the knowledge base and expereince of this thread is HUGE
To cut to the chase I could do with 'speaking' with a regular person who has experience of appying for Deputyship for someone with Dementia ... and all what it means on a day-to-day basis once it has been put in place.
I am a FT carer for mum with Alzheimers who lives with me and hasn't a penny to her name ... so I have no experience of dealing with care homes and looking after anyones financial affairs.
But my aunt (her sister) has vascular dementia and has been in a local care home since Sept last year when my cousin (her carer) became ill with cancer. He died two weeks ago and she now needs someone to act on her behalf. I know Social Services could do this but ...
Anyway, I've looked at the Office of Public Guardian and Court of Protection websites and have an idea of what's involved ... but I'd like to hear from someone who's been there, done it and got the tee shirt IYKWIM ... How much hassle does it involve? How has it affected your life? Would you do it again? What would you do differently? etc. etc.
TIA xxx

Just received a peanut butter kitkat so thank you to OP sorry can't remember who it was. Would love to eat it but still got toothache & something very unfortunate has happened. I have a temporary false tooth at the front which I had to take out because it was touching the tooth causing my toothache. I had it in tissue & left it there overnight. DH has put the rubbish out & you guessed it thrown my tooth away. Waiting for a call from dentist to see if I can get replacement but have a feeling I'll have to wait till next week. I'm supposed to be going to see Dreamboats & Petticoats sat night at theatre here in York might not be able to go now!:( And I'll have to miss Rock Choir tonight which I love made so many lovely friends there & its one of my rare social evenings.
I don't mind the laughs if it cheers everyone up!!:o
choirchick I know how this feels - I have an implant and had to have a false tooth whilst the implant was setting/settling I hated the false one and in the end I stopped wearing it - was really self conscious at first but if anyone said anything I just told them I had been "kissing the boys" :eek:Clipstrip_Bargains wrote: »Whooop whooop just got invited for an interview. Ooooooh the stories I could tell you about me and hot guys at st mikes
The first time I ever drove there I took the wrong turning and ended up down a dead end. I must have done a 120 point turn to get out!
