No legal protection - help!

A car ran into the back of us last week. We (me, dh and 3 kids) have all been suffering with headaches and stiffness (suspect whiplash). The guy has admitted liability, the car has been assessed and I think it's a write off. However we have no legal protection in our insurance policy. should we just leave the guy's (who ran into us) insurance to sort it out or is it better to go to a no win, no fee solicitor? Because we have no legal cover are they likely to offer much less of a pay out?

Hi!
I'd suggest firstly discussing it with your insurers however, whatever you do, you would need to seek medical advice about the injuries to back up your claim.
We used RAC Legal (because I worked for them at the time) for my partner's accident and they were excellent. They are no-win-no-fee.;)I am not a complete idiot - some parts are missing;)0 -
They are both valid options (deal direct or go through no win- no fee) and you will get people who feel strongly about one or the other.
As someone who comes from an insurance company background I can say that we tend to pay out more to those without a solicitor than those with for economic reasons and an independant audit of insurers (which was commissioned by insurers though) confirmed that this was common practice. A couple of solicitor bodies (not the Law Society however) claimed to have evidence to the contrary but I never saw it or heard what came of it as I moved on to another project. All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers
