Building Regulations - Survey needed?

Hi

A house I am looking to buy has been completely renovated and an extention added.

What does the building inspector cover in his inspection (just been signed off) and is it still worth me having a Home Buyer's survey done or is really a duplication?

Thank you in advance for your replies.
 Can anyone explain to me how to put a signature here?

The building inspector will have only covered those areas which required the need for building regulations. (eg the extension?)

The inspector will not have looked at anything else.

Since you have not detailed what the renovation entailed then it is difficult to assess what has been checked and what hasn't.

Have a look at this link about different types of surveys and see if there are any areas that might need looking at.

How old is the house ?

As above the building inspector would only check the extension

    Thanks for the reply....

The building is over 100 years old, electricity supply added, fully replastered, new kitchen, new bathroom, heating installed, new roof as well as extension. So apart from the existing walls, completely revamped.
