House worry - windows having stuff thrown at them.

I The police are not interested as they are not causing any damage.
An egg at a window is criminal damage. Insist on getting a crime number for every incident you report. That ensures it is on their computer system and their crime stats.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
If they are hanging around there to get to the field is it an option to contact the owner of the field and have them block it off? Assuming it is not a public playfield or something.
I would be tempted to throw eggs back and them too - ostrich eggs!Love the idea of stinking the place out with skunk spray etc, so long as the wind doesn't blow it back to you.
It is a shame the police aren't taking it seriously, how long before they get bored of eggs and start throwing stones and rocks? No one should have to put up with their home being trashed like that.0 -
Shot gun!!
Or failing that turn the hose on them.Wedding 5th September 20150 -
As other have said, getting an incident number from the police every time you call is VERY important.
Simply write down the date, time, Incident Number, and a short sentence describing the incident. Don't rely on the police to be able to produce this list for you.
When this kind of thing was happening to me, I naively called the police, and that was that.
Two years later, with many incidents in between, I was told that there was nothing on the system, and essentially, what was I moaning about, as there was no history of all these incidents I was imagining.
Also making the path unpleasant to use, as suggested above, is important. The police won't be effective by themselves.0 -

This is correct. If you have to spend time and/or money in putting the property back to the way it was, then it is criminal damage.
Cases on criminal damage have included chalk on a surface, and excrement smeared on a police cell. Neither is permanent, both removable with cleaning - as are the eggs in your case.
If the police refuse to deal with it, complain higher up and to your local MP / councillor. Log every incident and also contact the council's anti-social behaviour unit.0 -
Last summer i had 2 teen boys throwing biscuits into my back garden from their garden (backed on to mine but further up) from a good 50-60 foot away!!:rotfl:
They were hitting the fence with such force it was leaving marks, i ignored it until one hit my 3yr old son
I called the non emergency police and they came out, actually witnessed them doing it from upstairs in my house and the non emergency police called through for police.
2 officers came out and went to them and said it was an offence and gave them a good talking too!!
Its never happened since.
Keep reporting it, AND i would go for cctv to stop them in thier tracks!DebtFree FEB 2010!Slight blip in 2013 - Debtfree Aug 2014 :j

not so long ago i had the same problem (not live next to a path to the field but on the road about 100 yards away) so rang mister plod to be told could not do anything this then led on to stick and stones ,i rang 999 and got told this is not an emergency so i asked if they were waiting for the bricks to come, i then moaned at local police and imformed them they are there to protect the public not when the public are dead as they would not get paid by dead people , so just keep calling and you want it logged on their system ,if it gets sticks and stones then 999 tell them next it will be bricks and you can then go to the directer of public prosecutions for their misconduct / negligence , they will be on your door step as they do not want the trouble ,now get on with mister police no probs. so yeah i under stand your situation but do get them to logg all your calls0

Thank you all for your comments.
I'm going to go to the local police station (when it is open) to make sure that I have this on record and in future I will keep a full log and report it every time.
The last couple of times it has been at weekends and over night so I don't see who is doing it. Though last weekend I did have mud thrown instead during the day and when some kids came down the path later on all with mud covered hands, I did verbally tackle them. But obviously, it wasn't them according to the little darlings!! I threatened them with the police and they ran off laughing!!
This path is a proper tarmaced public right of way which is maintained by the council so a lot of people do use it as a shortcut to get to the shops. I'm going to see the council as well to see what they can do. I can't try and make the path unuseable as that is not fair on the elderly who use it. However, I do like the idea of the skunk pellets for when the groups congregate again.
Many thanks again.0 -
Can you dig some really offensive smelly manure into your garden near the path? Ditto a weed killer. Or creosote the fence when the little dears are at school? Dont forget to put signs up though and take pics to ensure they cant claim they didnt know and have ruined their clothes. It aint over til I've done singing....0
