Childminder entitlements?

Hi, I am currently registering as a childminder due to start officially in sept, in my current job I earn decent money for part time hours but am expecting there to be a difference of around £4000 a year to my wages. I don't currently receive any tax credits as between me and my hubby we obviously earn above the threshold but does anyone know if as a childminder I am likely to be entitled to any allowances as a large proportion of my earning will go for expenses for food toys bills etc as I will be home more than I am currently!

Thanks

If you are a childminder, then things such as toys etc bought for your business and food for the children should be allowable expenses on your tax return. You can also include a certain proportion of expenses like electricity / gas etc. You can get more advice on the cutting tax board - and have you signed up with a local childminding group? Other childminders should be able to give you an idea of what can be included. In the meantime, if you buy anything child-related, keep the receipts just in case!
