New on the prepaid market is Pockit with its pay monthly option of free application and £3.00p monthly fee. There is a host of cashback deals, partner offers and voucher codes, free point of sale transactions and a U.K. ATM fee of £1.00p.
Probably if a prepaid card is the only option and a U.K. ATM is used regularly the Pockit is a good deal. But just for U.K. and foreign point of sale transactions perhaps to ring-fence a debit or credit card the contactless Kalixa still rules the roost in my opinion.
I like the design of the Pockit though.

I don't understand how people will use a prepaid card with a monthly fee, surely they could get a basic bank account and there are enough competitors in the prepaid card market that you can get one with just an application fee.0

Quite. My OH and I have a Kalixa card each for certain things and swear buy it. Absolutely free to use, no monthly fee, no POS fee, and no top-up fee if topped up by BACS.
Obviously not used for cash withdrawals, but fort the things we use Kalixa for it's the best on the market and looks pretty smart, tooCashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48
