Hi,
Have you installed/removed any hardware, Memory, HDD etc
1) Check windows event viewer
2) get memory dump after BSOD (Blue Screen of Death), Usually located on c:\ root
3) try and get the last 4 digits of the hex code next time it BSOD's usually 0x0000xxxx
You can usually do a search on google for that.
Most common causes for this are issues with memory, Else do a system restore on windows as the registry may have been corrupted if not shut down correctly. if this has only happened once and has stopped happening it could also be a corrupt page file which will have been overwritten when windows reboots.

Don't worry too much, it might've been just a one-off as Duk suggests. It's a salutary reminder though to back up everything regularly, if you don't already do so.Je suis Charlie.0

Go to Start -> right-click on My Computer/Computer and select "Properties". From there, go into Advanced Settings, then choose "Settings" under the Startup and Recovery section, and uncheck the option to "Automatically Restart".
If the problem re-occurs, your Blue screen will remain on until you restart the laptop yourself. It's highly likely that the information displayed will make little/no sense. Event Viewer is your best bet at establishing what the problem is/was.
Right-click on My Computer/Computer, and select "Manage". From there, choose Event Viewer from the left hand menu, and open up the System/Application logs - these will highlight any errors.
Your best bet is uploading a dump file to the internet next time the problem occurs, and letting somebody establish what was causing the problem for you. If the issue has only happened once, it may just be a one-off, in which case don't worry.0 -
