Selling Unwanted Hotel Booking

I made a booking for a luxury hotel this Friday in Manchester, I really can't go and can't cancel it but can change the booking name. Where can I sell or give this booking away? I haven't paid for it but will be charged £165 on Friday if I don't use it. The same room type is on sale today for £500 so someone would get a bargain..ebay hasn't worked..any tips?

Gumtree? Noticeboard at work? Bit of a tricky one.
Are you sure you can't cancel? What you can sometimes do is agree with the hotel that they can sell the room, and if they succeed they refund you. For them it is win-win, they are guaranteed the £165 rate, and if they can sell it for more they get all the upside. It will only work if it is the last room on sale in the hotel, so it needs to be a busy night, but it is sometimes doable on a 'non-refundable' room. Call the reservations manager to discuss it.0
