Automatic gearbox issue
My (automatic) car is a little sluggish and judders slightly when shfting gears above 40 mph. It doesn't sound serious but it could be indicative of something wrong with the gearbox.
The warranty (which covers gearbox failure) on it will expire in September this year. I was wondering:
The warranty (which covers gearbox failure) on it will expire in September this year. I was wondering:
- whether there are any garages (inc automatic gearbox specialists) that do diagnostics or testing only, in the same way council test centres will only do MOTs for the public? This is because I know very little about gearboxes and don't want to give anybody an incentive to find something wrong for the sake of it.
- If there were something wrong with the gearbox, is there someting I could do in relation to the warranty (which only covers failure) before September, so as to avoid having to pay for any repairs or replacement further down the line?

If the gearbox is not acting normally, get i touch with the warranty people and ask their advice. Make waves now so that they have records of the problem before the warranty runs out. At the end of the day, the gearbox isn't designed to change gears sluggishly and judder.

You know little about gearbox, but you seem to know enough to recognise there is a fault. Is the fault getting worse? Take a test drive in a similar car to see if it behaves in a similar manner.
Where are you? Someone may be able to recommend a gearbox specialist in your area. What car? the main dealer should be able to diagnose a potential problem.
If I suspected gearbox trouble, even if covered by warranty, I would trade it asap."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Worth speakign to the warranty supplier?
If the gearbox isn't working properly could it be judged to have failed? (since something appears to be broken)
5t.What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0
