Hi,
When do I inform HMRC for about redudancy? Are they informed automatically ?
Do I need to reaply for tax credits?
How does the system work?

Hi Angelking
Personally, I called HMRC as soon as I had the date of my redundancy confirmed, and went through all the details over the phone with them.
I found the initial contact very helpful and went through everything I would be entitled to, so I'd just give them a phone and see what they say about your tax credits

I did it as was eligable for JSA and council tax benefit, so I think it is probably sensible if getting any benefits or tax credits to inform them of a change in your circumstances.
Having said that, I just realised I mis-read this and it was not HMRC that I called, but the job centre people...so I may have been completely wrong in my suggestion, sorry!0
