Black & Decker drill problems

Hope somebody can help or advise please and also hope this is the right place to post.
I have a Black and Decker drill (DNJ52-H30) with a circular saw attached. Using it the other day it started to smoke from the back so shut it down and the stripped it, cleaned the commutator and replaced the brushes. When I started it up the sparks from the brushes were like a catherine wheel. Can anyone advise is it dustbin time or have I missed something.
Thanks any help.

You want DIY board. How much did the drill cost?

  • tomstickland,
Had a while now so can't remember the cost. Just wondered if it is worth keeping or do the brush sparks indicate something real bad wrong.

Bin it and buy a new one ..the cost of repair would be more than a new one.

Could be that you have fitted the brushes back slightly differently to what they were.
Run it a while and the sparking might stop

TBH you can pick up power tool sets that include both a drill and a circular saw for very good prices.

    IIRC Focus do/did them
