in Credit cards
 morning,
I'm looking for an account for my 14 (nearly 15) yr old which has the facility of a sort code and account number (so he can purchase things online)
I opened him a savings account years ago which has now got to the stage where he can have a card instead of a cash book but this has none of the facilities above.
Any advice or recommendations? Thanks

I can't see why you would want to declare your sort code and a/c number on line however any bank a/c would do.0

I think what you mean is that you want a Debit card, not a sort code and account number, and I don't think these are given to anyone under the age of 16. Might be wrong though as I'm sure I've heard 14 around here somewhere.0

HSBC for example offer a card for under 18s.0

You can't normally buy things online with just a sort code and account number, although you can set a paypal account to be funded by direct debit from a current account (not a savings account)
I think you mean a debit card.
Most banks offer under-18s a debit card of some sort, but the type of card and account vary between banks - you'll have to do a little research to find what's best for your circumstances. We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.

Last I heard, Lloyds TSB had the highest interest rate on a child's current account.0 -

I think Lloyds offer a Visa Electron debit card to under 18's. Not sure what the lower age requirement is but I think every bank has some form of debit card account aimed at teens don't they?
Have you asked your own bank?0
