So do you think that is why they are sending me for a medical as I have a long term incurable illness and may need longer than the year on contributions based ESA? Seems to be so many of these odd wrong info's floating around. Mind you I had heard from others that it was possible to be in the support group - do permitted work - and get ESA contr for longer time frame. So thanks for the info.
Contribution based ESA definitely only lasts a year if in WRAG. http://www.dwp.gov.uk/policy/disability/welfare-reform-bill-2011-and-disabled/The Welfare Reform Bill applies a one-year time-limit to contribution-based Employment Support Allowance (ESA) for those in the Work Related Activity Group. This change will be introduced in April 2012 and will have an immediate effect on people who are currently claiming contribution-based ESA as well as new claims.
Amyone on ESA can be called for a medical at any time - being on cont. ESA has nothing whatsoever to do with it, ALL ESA claimants are subject to regular medicals.“How people treat you becomes their karma; how you react becomes yours.”0
