In my experience, it's the court system that will let you down in the end. The Police did a fantastic job when some scumbag loser tried to steal my car. He left his blood on the steering column where he had tried to start it. Ha ha there was no battery in the car so he drew blood for nothing. Open and shut case you would think eh?

I steeled myself to come up against this scumbag in court, knowing that he came from a bad area, and I was putting myself in the firing line. He did not even turn up at court (I later found out he was in hospital from a bike accident - GOOD.)

Just before the time the case was due to start, the case was thrown out because it was too long between me last attending my car and when I reported the crime.....I think it was about 12 hours...I mean, overnight, more or less.....unbelievable, and they say crime doesn't pay. Sorry, no sympathy with these people. We work hard for our things, they are all just scumbags.

I thank OP for sharing this experience, it's a lesson to us all not to feel sorry for so called sad cases asking us to show them charity and to keep valuables out of sight.

My mum was also ripped off by gypsy scum using the old 'your neighbours have complained about your garden' trick to con money from her for basically doing nothing except scaring her. FURIOUS.

I don't even trust so called reputable traders. I had a local firm replace my taps. After he left I realised he had TAKEN my old taps with him. Now, had he asked, I would have let him, but he basically stole these too.

OP dont let anyone tell you this is your fault. There is way too much of this finger pointing at the victims these days!! Why should we not expect our property on our land to be ours and not there for the taking by these dregs.

And in most peoples houses if he hadn't taken them away it would be said he didn't clear up after himself. Did you ask him to leave the taps?

To the OP, I know how it feels but to be honest its not worth claiming on your insurance and its not worth getting hung up on. If the police catch the guy then great but I'd personally move on - there is more to life.

    .

The taps have value as scrap - as the OP in this thread found out to her detriment. He put the rest of the rubbish in my bin, but not the taps funnily enough...he should have asked me, simple one minute conversation.

Wow so much anger over one set of taps and some scrap metal. It was a shed that was burgled not your house.
