Late with a payment - on my credit file?

Options
I've just missed a minimum payment on my credit card because I forgot about it. The minimum payment was about £12.50, on a balance of £12.50. Yeah.. I got charged a late fee that was nearly that amount in total. The payment was due on the 14th, and I've just but is this likely to go on my credit file? The website seems to suggest it may.

If your next statement has been produced before you realised and paid...almost certainly it'll go on your credit file.

    If it hasn't...possibly not.

That's the best you'll get unless you divulge which card it is, when you paid, and if/when your next statement was produced...and then maybe someone can speak from personal experience of your provider.

You could ask them to refund it... argue (nicely) that the late fee was disproportionate in the circumstances, both to size of the infraction and the "damages" they suffered as a result of your breach.

Won't help with a late marker, but might sweeten the pill!

I was 'forgiven' a late fee by Cap 1 some moons ago.

Like you, I forgot to set up the payment. When I got the fine I contacted them and apologised, and pointed out how this was my first time, I'd never do it again and so forth.

Anyway, they refunded the late fee. I was happy to see that the CRA file was clear next time I checked although I didn't ask for this.

It may depend upon timing, i.e. when your creditor fires off its updates to the CRAs, so it could be worth grovelling to them tomorrow :)
