Thinktank Birmingham Season Pass??

Hi
My son is nearly 14 months old and very active now, so now's the time to involve him in lots of activities or adventures (it's just us two and I get itchy feet when we don't go somewhere or have a day out!)
We've been to Cadbury World, Sealife etc and live in Coventry area, close to the Thinktank in Birmingham. I've never been, but considering reviews that there's a lot to do and mostly for under 5s, is it worth paying £8.50 for one day (I'm a student) or should I buy £30 annual pass to go back whenever?
Not sure if its worth it? He is crawling and nearly walking, very loud, enjoys other children's company and water play, should we do it?
Please note that when I say 'day out', I mean for him- I like to share new places, get him involved in things and give him opportunities I never had- I save for them- not a scrounging student!

I live in the same area as you and have two children who are 7 and 4. Personally I would not bother with Thinktank at your son's age. We have taken ours there and stil felt they were too young to get much value out of it. I think there are some much better places around that a child of that age would get more out of. Have you been to Hatton Farm Village? Our two have loved it there since they were 18 months and still do now. it's about £13 for a day in the Summer or you can get an annual pass (we have had one for the last 3 years). Children are free whilst they are under 2. We also find the National Trust good as there are quite a few in the area. Nice playgrounds in the Memorial Park in Coventry, Stratford (by the river), Abbey Fields in Kenilworth
Hope that helps0 -
Hi, I have an almost 2 year old and we go often to the Nature Centre, its lovely and there's a tiny indoor and good outdoor play area other than the animals. I think its £2 per adult. If its a reasonable distance for you. Also Cannon Hill Park next door has more playgrounds and very nice for him to run around.
Also Cadbury World, if you can get cheapish tickets, they have lots of offers, my 2 year old loves the bean ride and the playground outside!
The Botanical Gardens are lovely esp weekends (live bands for adults and children's stuff on Sundays).
I would second the post above about not getting Thinktank season pass, my older children have just about got the hang of the stuff there and you could delay it for later. We've been to Ash End Farm and the littlest one loved it.0 -
Thanks, I went to Ash End Farm when I was little, very excited to take him, but I'll leave it a little bit longer. He likes chomping people and might take a chunk out of a duck/chick, the ones they put on your lap!

I took my little one to the thinktank a few weeks ago and he really enjoyed the "real world" sections eg there is a play cafe/hospital/garage etc and a good water play section but I doubt we'd go again he was too young for the rest of the museum and he even got bored in the planetarium which isnt like him. If you live nearby the annual pass might be a good idea as it's like debiting yourself with an unlimited entry to the play area which would be good for rainy days or if you can't afford to keep going to new places.
I would ask if they have an offer where if you pay to get it but then decide you want an annual pass they knock the entrance fee off the pass price as this would help you to decide whether or not you feel the pass would be worth it.0
