Weekend in Cardiff Help Needed

Hi - Help needed from you kind people. :D

Me and my friend are desperate to go to the rugby league millenium magic weekend in cardiff on the 5th and 6th of May. We cannot find affodable accommodation or a reasonable way of getting there (without driving).
For accommodation we would need something within reach of the city centre for the sat night or sat and sunday.

Travel would be leeds to cardiff sat morning coming back sunday night or monday morning depending on hotel.

Any help would be great......iv checked all the ususal sites and everything seems fully booked or out of our (student) price range. Just wondering if MSE'rs know any tricks. Also...do universities rent out halls rooms over night? just a thought.

Thanks in advance.

Matt.

that is also a bank holiday weekend so another reason you might find it hard to get accommodation.

this site has some B&Bs on it but there is also a link at the side to fill in if you are having difficulty in finding somewhere....Ive never used it or anything but it might be worth a go..

Could you not drive down and stay outside Cardiff. There are loads of affordable Travel Inns and other reasonably priced places on the outskirts of town and the Bus and Train service into town is fab.

There's a Travel Inn near me in a little town called Pentrebach. It's approximately 25 miles outside Cardiff and it's got free car parking and near the railway station with a direct line to Cardiff. Have you tried them? Tel No 0870 1977183.

in terms of travel, http://www.arrivatrainswales.co.uk/home.aspx?LangType=1033 have been advertising rtn fares from Mcr to cardiff direct from £20 rtn...its about a tenner to manc from leeds on train (1 hour approx). If you are a student, i guess you have a young persons railcard which will help lower the cost too.

I wanted to go that w/e, but the hotel situation IS dire!
