Trouble is one person may say something and then someone in head office he say no. Happens all the time with other banks, Nationwide in particular people saying it will be fine for BR to keep their accounts and then someone up above freezes them and then that's it. Personally I would stick to one of the two that are known to be fine.

  • Hi,
I have a Yorkshire Bank a/c with a 'master' debit card. I had this account prior to BR and I had no problems with them letting me keep the account open post BR. I'd say give them a ring or nip in and speak to the manager - they were great with me. Good luck.

Really pleased it worked out for you. The thing is it is not consistant with the other banks. We have had posters being able to use their Nationwide, NatWest, HSBC etc. Accounts through the years but it is the odd one here or there that are the exception rather than the rule. The two we recommend we know are good and there will be little or no problems with.

The only other bank that is consistent is the Halifax in that as soon as they know you are BR they close all accounts even if they are children's accounts.
