Yorkshire Bank Readycash basic bank account

Hi,
Has anyone applied for the above account and been succesful opening one? I was just wondering what sort of debit card you got with it?
I'm hoping to still be able to get a mastero card rather than an electron card, plus the Yorkshire bank is closer to me than a co op should I ever need to go into the branch.

You can do all you need to do with a Co-op cashminder at any post office, eg pay cheques in etc. so you don't need to be near a Co-op branch.

Sorry can't answer your question though, never heard of it.

  • The co op only gives an electron card though and I know this might sound daft but I don't think my oh will want one of those, I know he might not have a choice but if we could get one with a mastero I think he would be happier.

Co Op gives a Visa Debit card, not Electron. I think they phased out Electron a while ago.

Yep! definateley a visa debit card with the Co-op Cashminder, has been for around two years or so.

As Pippa says you can use the Post Office for putting money in. I have had my account for six years and have had to go into a branch twice in that time. There telephone service is fantastic and the guys in customer service are brilliant. On line service is not so hot, takes a while to update but they do a text service or you can check at the cash machine or keep a spreadsheet.

In reply to the original post, which had nothing to do with the Co-Op.

The answer is a Maestro card.
  • You could always phone Yorkshire Bank and ask. I know that they don't come up in conversations about BR-friendly accounts, but I suppose that could be because they're not really nationwide as such. I have co-op, and the debit card is a visa debit with raised-up numbers, as opposed to the flat, electronic-use-only type. Hope that helps!
