Hi everyone
My sister has made a claim for PPI on a loan she has with Welcome.
She is confident she has a case as she had been told on application of loan she would need PPI or it would not be successful.
She has had a letter back from Welcome stating that she would need to send a form of ID for the complaint to be processed?
I find this very odd based on the fact they are quite happy to take her loan payment from her every month. Are they saying they dont no who she is but we will accept the month payment anyhow????
(I've heard it all now!!).
I successfully claimed from Barclays on a loan closed 5 years ago with no account info and they never asked me for ID!!
Just would like to know if anyone else has experienced this with Welcome or any other bank they are claiming PPI against.
Do you think this is a delay tactic?
Many thanks for reading !! And good luck to those who are claiming back the money that is rightfully theirs.:rotfl:

yes welcome and the fscs that are also dealing with their claims are insistant on seeing ID.
They wouldn't accept my driving licence as ID, they wanted bank statements, utility bills or my passport but only if it was verified by a post office or solicitor.
Bloody pain in the !!!! if you ask me and yes I believe its a delaying tactic. Get her to send off the bank statement and a pic of her passport stamped by the post office and they get on with the process immediately.
I've just received my PPI back from one claim with them within 3 weeks of applying.0 -

Money laundering rules were different then. Plus, it is linked to the FSCS and they usually request it.
What is the problem with providing them what they ask?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -

Thanks Guys.
No problems with them asking.Apart from the fact that My Barclay's claim was only last month not 5 years ago.And they never asked me for any ID.
And the fact that Welcome need to verify who my sister is,yet they are still taking Loan repayments from her as loan still active and they are quite happy to do that every month and not ask for ID!!!
Just inconsistent in procedures is my view - that's:) all .0 -

Maybe Barclays had more current data on you. i.e. you still bank with them. Welcome would probably have very little.Just inconsistent in procedures is my view - that's all .I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I dont know. I dont know what info she originally supplied and whether it is still in date or not (expired docs are no longer considered suitable). Or she may have done it before they needed to check.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
