Phone Return Within 12 Months

I picked up my new phone at Phones4U back in April. I returned it because the screen had died, and they replaced it for a new one there and then no problem.
Now about 5 weeks later, my new ones playing up. I've told them over the phone the problem and they said because its outside a 28 day window all they'll do is send it to Sony, which will take 2 weeks. During this time I'll be paying for a contract I can't make use of.
I was under the impression that if there's a fault within the first year the shop you buy from is obligated to take it back and swap it? Thanks for any advice.

They are within their rights to repair. You may find they will refund back part of the contract (T-mobile did this for me)Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0 -
So what if they refuse to refund part of the contract? Is there anything I can do then? Because of the sim card I can't even put it in an older phone to use.0

Back to my question, does anyone know my rights if they refuse to refund me the contract time I can't use?0

have you asked them?
I would expect most companies in this situation to offer some sort of compromise0 -
I did mention it over the phone when I spoke to them and they sort of seemed to dodge the issue. I'll pop down tomorrow and see what they say.0
