clips from last night comic relief

Just been having a read through the last few comments, I personally enjoyed the Comic Relief evening, Its only once every couple of years & I thought on the whole the sketches were quite funny and there was something for everyone, obviously not everyone is going to enjoy all of the comedians. I thought Ricky Gervais's sketch was funny i'm sure a lot of you will disagree and say it was dis-tasteful, but it was a joke and a bit of fun the whole point of Comic Relief and i very much doubt Africans will be offended by it considering the point of it was to raise money for them!
Also I think the comment about Bono above was a bit below the belt!! come on how many other people can you name that have raised £40m for charity, yes he's rich but that doesnt mean he should be obliged to donate all of it to charity..if you're going to criticise people think of people who have similar amounts of wealth who don't donate any to charity.0 -
Does he donate any money to charity? i wouldn't be surprised if he hasn't. What i dont like about him and Sir Bob is there self promotion through charity work and preaching to the working class to give as much as they can.
In fact, im sure geldoff has become far richer through his association with band aid. not that the pompeous p***k needs it.
i know they do help raise awareness which is fair enough but i just can't help not liking them. while i know gervais acts the c**t, he's just doing his stuff for charity but doesn't pretend to be some third world saviour.
thats just my opinion anyway, i know most see geldoff as almost saint like, like gandhi and mandela. he certainly does.
sorry for going off topic. What's it going to be, eh?0 -

hey
the tony blair sketch was absolutely brilliant and definitely worth watching, was one the of the highlights.
if you find two people pretending to be disabled and singing funny you will like the 500 miles thing, didn't watch the ricky gervais bit but if it was as distasteful as this then dont think i'll like it... ah well at least lots of money was raised in the end.why be a song, when you can be a symphony?0 -
I watched the whole night of comic relief and I think that the Catherine Tate and David Tennent clip was fantastic. Bite me alien boy!!!Swagbucking since 24/7/14:

I thought the Ricky Gervais sketch was class. It was a complete p*ss take of people who use the cause to promote themselves. It was totally tongue in cheek and very very clever. Even down to standing in the man's hut and shaking his head patronisingly at his lack of possession and living conditions. People who found it offensive obviously didn't 'get it' in the same way they might find Ali G and Borat is offensive.0

this should work,
* Go to http://vixy.net/flv_converter
* Type in the URL (address) of the Youtube video (eg. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rIjjWXstjZc)
*Make sure it says Convert to: AVI for Windows (DIVX + MP3) (if you want it on your PC)
* Click start, wait a few moments and tadaa! either choose to save it or open it
jimbob, you do not need broadband for these. these are at the most 10MB files, which would take 36 minutes. if you want to download these (you dont need too) feel free to download the files elsewhere and transfer the files via a CD/DVD/ Memory Stick whateverAn average day in my life:hello: :mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T:rotfl: :rotfl:

Mmmn. So, if you're right trippy, does that mean he's actually taking the proverbial out of the armada of fading comics who "promote themselves" on Comic Relief?
The other point here is that Gervais has been essentially doing the same allegedly "tongue in cheek" routine, with minor variations on theme, for his entire comic career. Does that mean he's just limited in talent and sticks to the same formula, or does it mean he really is rascist, and every other -ist in reality?
I don't know, but the more he does it, the more deeply uneasy I feel, that's all.
You see, if you follow that argument right the way through, it might even be possible for Bernard Manning to reinvent himself as the very first "alternative" comic, and make out that his entire career has in fact been a send up of pub comedians.
(BTW, I'm just putting the case, not defending Berard Manning here - a man who has only made me laugh out loud once in my life...the day I heard that his club had burnt down...)0 -

It was hilarous when the camera panned round and Andy Peters had appeared out of no where :rotfl:**********************************************************************
