How do I know??

Hi all,
I have been looking at my old credit card/loan statements and documents to see if I have a case for PPI reclaiming. For 2 of my old credit cards, I've kept all of my statements but not the initial letters containing my contract. These don't mention PPI payments but not having any seems unlikely to me, as I was always so diligent with such things (I didn't want my parents to be lumbered with my debts if I popped my cloggs!)
If I was sold PPI, would this always show up on my statements?
Thank you.

If your credit card provider was charging you for PPI, it should definitely show on the monthly statements. It could be called a number of different things but it should be easy to spot. Have a look at the statements for anything which doesn't look like a shop purchase and see if the same thing crops up each month.
To be eligible for a refund, however, you would need to have clear reasons why you think the company missold it. Your post reads as though you intended to have PPI.0 -
No, there was nothing like that - looks like I didn't ask for it on those accounts then!
On another note, I had PPI on a previous loan and remember wanting it at the time and have the documentation for it, so figured I didn't have a claim. But the lender has sent me 2 letters saying if I think I was mis-sold I should contact them - does that mean I'm likely to have a case with them?0 -
To have a case for complaint, you would need to show them that the PPI was in some way missold. If you actually wanted the PPI, understood what it was and were eligible for it, then it would be hard to suggest that they had missold it to you.On another note, I had PPI on a previous loan and remember wanting it at the time and have the documentation for it, so figured I didn't have a claim. A typical "missale" would be where a person was persuaded to have the PPI despite them already having adequate cover elsewhere, or not being eligible for the policy - perhaps due to age, occupation, health etc. In some cases PPI was added automatically without the customer being aware (or hidden in the small print).
Are there reasons why you feel the PPI was not suitable? And was it sold to you or did you choose to have it?0
