Won a dishwasher on their auction site. They gave me the earliest delivery date once I had input my post code. Paid and delivery organised for Monday 25th.
Got a call today cancelling the delivery as they apparently don't have the item in stock. I wouldn't mind but they set the date - not me!
Anyway, cancelled the order, gone elsewhere and am now having a delivery tomorrow.
Never, ever again. I don't care if they are giving goods away for 15p.

I don't see how they can sell stuff in an auction that they havent got.
I'd be giving trading standards a ring to be honest.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
I think I might just do that. Considering the staggeringly good service I've had from another company, appliances online, I do wonder how Comet manage to keep trading.0

I'm sure they can be absolutely abysmal, but the other side of the coin: a few months ago I ordered a coffee machine from them at 3:00p.m., and at 8:00a.m. the very next morning I was using it to make my breakfast cappuccino.Je suis Charlie.0

I suspect they didn't like the price that the item went for at auction. You've had a lucky escape when you consider the state of their after-sales service.0

As a recent leaver of the good ship comet (translation: I no longer work for them, have had my last paycheck, and no longer care enough to keep quiet) I can believe this one.
I worked in their call centre near Bristol, and right now they are having massive stock issues.
This is because they have recently been sold to Opcapita (the venture capital firm that bought and sold Halfords) and are having trouble securing stock on credit terms from suppliers as they are more than a little shakey.
Hence, a massive number of their customers are being let down on stock right now, not directly Comet's fault but not the customer's problem either.
The stores are just as bad, I recently went into a local one looking for a freesat box only to be told they only really had stock of them on monday and tuesday, then sold out for the week while they waited for more.
My honest opinion is that in 2 years they will just be a website. Then all we'll need is Currys/PC World to go the same way (and they are running an even larger annual loss at the moment) and all the customers will complain they have nowhere to go and view the new 50" TV they want before they go and buy for the cheapest online price....0 -
Ah the joys of working for Comet! Got made redundant last year, the best thing that they did for me!0

bought a tv on saturday . after paying for it they told me they havent any in stock said they would be in on tuesday . went today wednesday told now they will not have any in for another week. only bought it to watch olympics they will be over before i get it at this rate. surely this must come under the trades description act as false advertising0

Charming! They took your money and then told you it was out of stock. Surely they could've told you it was out of stock before you go your money out. I would've demanded a refund.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £26,322.670 -
[makes note to NEVER order something from either, not because of hating their incompetence, I'm used to that, but in case they go into administration with my money]I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0
