Is there a limit to how many CC you can have?

After several, if you apply for more will someone get suspicious?

I used to have over 50 credit cards (about 10 years ago)! :eek:

Each lender will make a decision about giving you a card, so, no: in theory there's no limit. Well, there's a limited number of lenders, I suppose!

In the 70s and 80s when I was a credit card numpty it was all the rage to see how many you could collect. Fair enough, there were many store cards at the time so getting a largish number wasn't that unusual. I probably had up to 10, perhaps?

Nowadays, however, store cards have tended to morph into generic Visa and Mastercard, and the number of behind-the-scenes lenders (i.e.banks) is smaller.

Also, they all communicate your information to each other via credit reference agencies, and this means they get to know pretty quickly how many debts, or credit limits, you have within the lending community.

So, there's no actual limit, but the more you get the less likely it is you'll continue to get more. In general.
