School fees: Can I get a refund?

Many thanks all for your responses. Interesting to read some of the reactions, and the rationale provided by some is really helpful and much appreciated!
To answer a previous poster - exam fees are charged on top of the tuition fees

As you have paid the fees for the full term, I would imagine that constitutes a contract - you didn't dispute it at the time, but surely would have been aware that your son would nnot be returning to school for lessons after the exams were over. You may (should) also have a written contract.
As you have paid and not queried the fees until now, I would suggest that you accepted the terms of the contract (in this case, to pay the full amount due until the end of term), and therefore are unlikely to have any luck in obtaining a refund.0 -
well I guess you could always send your son to school until the school breaks up ........2014 Target;

Get your "moneys worth" and send your son in until the end of term,see how that goes down with both school and your son.Life is like a bath, the longer you are in it the more wrinkly you become.0

What?! You've got a bit of a rubbish deal there!0 -
Haha yes - part of the reason for considering getting some sort of refund is that I feel on balance I have paid through the nose over the years. Given that none of the responses above suggest I have a leg to stand on I'll just be putting it down to experience.
Thanks all!0 -

He has just finished GCSEs?
What does Oxford have to do with it? That isn't the only reason people send their children to a Private school.
What a ridiculous question!
And for a previous poster, whether the Op chooses to send their child to a private school is their business.I have realised I will never play the Dane!
Where are my medals? Everyone else on here has medals!!

I think you might want to put it down to experience, and learn from it if possible. Do you have any younger children? Why not send them to the private school until the start of year 11, then transfer them to the local comp. That way you won't end up out of pocket, nor will you have to pay any exam entry fees, unless they wish to do resits. Sounds very MSE to me!Reason for edit? Can spell, can't type!0
