The problem in this case seems to stem from NatWest laying off staff, farming out the work to other countries, offsourcing, etc.

are a good read as they are largely from technical people.

It makes a fascinating read, well worth reviewing in depth - pity the media aren't quizzing Stephen Hester and his sidekick about outsourcing and particularly interesting if Lloyds have just signed a contract to go down the same path.

I only hope this foul-up is on such a mega scale that Select Committees, the BoE and the serious end of the media start to ask questions like why somebody paid off all the staff who had decades of experience in knowing how the core systems actually worked and how to manage them to a standard that should be mandatory for all 29 Globally Systemic Financial Institutions.
