I always swore that I could knit another dog with the hairs my black lab used to drop!

Furminator is bad for some dog's fut - with my Zara it was way too sharp, sutting the fur and damaging it.

I use Mikki Rake, much better for a double coat, this type of rake - they do different ones depending on the coat.

Brillinat thing and no damage to the coat like with Furminator

I have one of those really good for the GR but a bit too rough for the shorter lab coat i've found.

The sheet thing's a good idea but then I'd have to have the whole house covered in sheets. I have a throw on the sofa which gets shaken out then washed every day, at least that protects the sofa a bit.

My house IS covered in sheets! I can tolerate it when I am home alone, and it really does take the stress out of cleaning up when people are due to come over. I also panic less about people just dropping round (I am a bit ocd about having a clean house when people come over!).

Can any harm be done by over-grooming a dog?

Well my grandson needed a nappy change and his mum very disapprovingly removed a black dog hair from his little boy bits, despite my efforts with the hoover...!
