Hi, Im getting a new camera which apparently has a li-ion rechargeable battery. My previous one used aa rechargeables so was easy to use for me.
My question is are they all different to each camera make or are they universal? and do you have to buy a charger generally?
Sorry cant be more specific on the camera, apparently it is a surprise present for me!

Old Faithful we roam the range together,
Old Faithful in any kind of weather,
When the round up days are over,
And the Boulevard’s white with clover,
For you old faithful pal of mine.

The two cameras I have li-ion are different to each other. I did get a spare but no manufacturers one. Seem to have different chargers too0

If it's got a li-ion battery it'll normally have a charger of some kind with it.
Different manufacturers use different batteries, but will usually try and use the same battery within a certain range (IE from memory my Panasonic TZ 7 has a battery that fits about 20-30 different Panasonic cameras in the range, some older and some newer than the '7).
Replacement/spare batteries can be expensive if you buy the official ones, but "compatible" ones are usually available and much cheaper (about £8 compared to £36 for my camera).
The good news is, that most of the li-ion battery packs are pretty good, I think I got 200+ shots with the flash on, and the camera pretty much on all the time over a couple of hours with my one
Other models will vary, but you'll probably get a lot of pics from the included battery before it needs recharging.0
