Going off ESA onto JSA - How to get an income til JSA is accepted

I'm 18 and claimed for the first time in May due to depression+anxiety. I have an ATOS medical on the 4th July but I've decided over the past few days I want to go on JSA as I told myself I wouldn't stay on ESA long and I've realised I'm not getting better either way. What can I do? Will they think I faked it if I suddenly want to claim JSA? I'll need an income while my JSA claim gets processed, and will it get accepted do you think?

You can seek work on ESA.
At least in the short term, this is probably a good idea.
You can then do 'permitted work' for up to 97 a week (after deductions), and up to 16 hours, for a period of a year.
This may help get you back into work.
(this would not affect your ESA)
You need to contact them first.0 -

It is a good idea until the OP fails the WCA and has to go through the appeals process. If they weren't depressed enough already, they certainly will be after that!0 -

If they're deciding between going onto JSA, or doing permitted work, the permitted work option is clearly better.
If they are not in a position to consider work, and it would not be helpful, then they should not be considering it at this point.0
