eBay - Dangerous electrical goods.

Hello,

A few months ago, I bought a small lighting ballast of ebay.

On Tuesday, during ignition, it set on fire. Thankfully I was in the room at the time and the black smoke was fairly conspicuous.

Upon inspection, it's the insulation around the wiring that is at fault and clearly unfit for purpose.

I messaged the seller telling him of the issue, he is still selling these items, he has not responded to me and they are still advertised for sale.

I am not looking for a refund or replacement. I can replace the wiring myself. I am just concerned that this is going to happen to someone else and they may not notice until it is too late..

Is it worth contacting ebay regarding this, will they do anything? Should I just go to trading standards?

Thanks
