Best wood paint for bedroom furniture?

I need some help with selecting the right paint for my bedroom furniture.

The paint around the edges of my drawers started to chip off but I could not find a good colour match to touch it up so I have made a big mistake in painting the drawer front's white - which has made my expensive furniture look like something you would buy flat pack!

I have not painted the wardrobe so it is still a very light cream, I just need a good match for the drawers. I have tried the dulux Colour Click so many times but it does not find a colour close enough. I have never painted bedroom furniture before so unsure what colour/brand of paint would be best.

I have looked at so many different creamy colours in the Dulux satinwood (Ivory, Magnolia, Barley White and many more) but don't know if they'll be too light or too yellowy and I don't want to end up having to buy half a dozen or so tester pots before finding the right colour.

I also noticed International Furniture & Cupboard paint in Antique Cream but unsure if this would be better for my bedroom furniture. It is also double the price of the Dulux Satinwood.

Does anyone know what colour/brand of paint would be best to get my drawers to a nice cream. Something like this: http://www.bedguru.co.uk/product.php?id=2251

Thank you in advance for any help.

I've recently used B&Q's 1829 range to get a very similar finish and colour for our bedroom furniture. I chose Regency White in eggshell; http://www.diy.com/nav/decor/paint/interior-paint/emulsions/-specificproducttype-white/1829-Eggshell-Paint-Regency-White-750ml-9190678

Some people hate it but ... Farrow & Ball. They have a huge range of "off white" colours.

For the one in your link, I'd suggest Off White although Clunch would also look good.

Don't go by the colours you see online. You need to go in to a store and look at the sample cards - and take them out in to the natural light before you choose.

Buy Eggshell if you want a soft satin finish or dead flat if you want it .... just that way.

Thanks for your help. I forgot to mention I wanted a flat finish - like what the orginal paint was. Is eggshell finish the best for this?

    Thanks again :)

hi i would try chalk paint it great
  • I have a different choice. Last 2 months ago I painted my shaker kitchen cabinets with a brown color oil paint. The chalk paint looks dull and it would not give a great finishing as the oil paint can have.

and then once you've decided , get the colour scanned in crown or dulx and save yourself £50;)
