Fun with RBS and/or DWP - Money In / Out - Confused...?

Hello
I'm on ESA, and my benefits (around £142) went into my RBS account yesterday. I bought some groceries last night (£48), but this morning my account was showing that I was overdrawn by around £45. I've checked the mini-statement, and no other money was taken out of my account. Apparently the money was put into my back account yesterday morning by DWP, then after I bought some groceries, the money was taken out of my account - either by RBS or DWP. Has anyone else experienced similar problems? My sick note was up to yesterday with a follow-on sent in the post on Monday, so I should have been covered until mid July.
Is ESA paid in arrears? All advice and reassurances appreciated.
Best Wishes

Have you seen the news, RBS has been having some technical problems with computers with money not showing up as being credited to accounts.
If you saw the money in the account and then later it shows as being overdrawn without you spending all the money this is likely to be the reason.
I am sure that RBS will compensate you!0 -
might be more related to the probs all over the news RBS have had with their IT rather than ESA

Hi, I had the same problem, my pension went in on Friday morning, transferred some of it to another account, logged in today online, no sign of the payment received, but it shows the transfer, the money has just gone, I checked that there hasn't been any withdrawn, but the payment looks as if it was never there, confused.Debt_Tired wrote: »Hello

Exactly the same here
We've been left without a penny & I have 5 kids. I drove over 14 miles looking for a branch that was open & gave up & come home. I am now on hold to Direct Banking & have been waiting 48 minutes!!
Just terrible, I'm completely gutted x

Understood. I thought that the problem was that money was not going into people's accounts. It now appears that the problem includes money being taken out of people's account by the banks themselves. Let's hope that this mess will sort itself out!!!0
