Hi, long time lurker first time poster.

I have a debt of 1.2k that I need paying off, my card is coming to an end (next month) and I need to get a low or 0% BT card fast.

So far I've applied for the Halifax Clarity - got accepted but instead of the 2.9% for BTs I got given a rate of 12.9%. I wrote back to them and said I wanted to cancel my application given I didn't get the promotional offer as wasn't any better than my current APR rate. Yet to hear back.

I then applied for the Virgin money card online 16 months 0% and got a straight no. How do I go about appealing or should I?

Where do I go from here?

A little background, I'm a student, late bloomer to university, second year coming up, I worked for 3 years before that and have always been good with finances. I have an excellent credit rating (checked with Experian) - I don't know whether going from employed to student effects this. I will be working part time, as a teaching assistant, so will be out of work until September, earn around 10k, have only just got the job. But need income over the summer.

Current borrowing is just on that card mentioned (3k limit). I have 1 other card that has a limit of £475 on it, and I did have a card previous to that, but it expired - I assume that means it cancelled right had a limit of £2150? Both of those cards are with my bank, the one with the debt is not. Also my overdraft is 1k limit.

Seriously where do I go from here I have no idea.

Thanks in advance.

    So apart from my mistyped mistake, does anyone else have anything to add? I really do need some advice.

    If not I think I could just be chucking money at the card to pay some of it off as I feel I have run out of options.

    basically an unemployed student with a maxed out OD and recently moved;

    I would not expect you to get a non-student type card
    and so a 0% or low apr is very very unlikely

    What would you suggest then?

    Just to add more information, I'm not unemployed, I'm just out of work from the end of July until beginning of September, is there a difference there from the view of the Credit Card companies?

    Also I'll be on the electoral voting list from August (just completed and posted the form)

    And thanks for the reply

    unless you can pay the debt off (recommended) there is nowhere to go with your current profile

    maybe once you start your permanent part time job there may be better prospects of getting a 0% card.
