halifax errors

Not sure if ive put this in right place?
The halifax too my loan amount out of my account with another company three times on the 8th 11th and 12th of this month. I discovered this on the 15th and quickly reported this to both banks. The halifax told me I had to reclaim it via the direct debit system with my other bank. (nationwide) so I did.
Only ive checked my account today and found the direct debit re call has gone through. But the halifax also credited my account.
Should I tell the halifax they have credited me twice? Or keep quiet and hope they never notice? After all they never told me they had made error to begin with?

Personally I'd tell them and pay it back. As you know they paid you in error then you cannot keep it.
A person is guilty of theft if he dishonestly appropriates property belonging to another with the intention of permanently depriving the other of it; and “thief” and “steal” shall be construed accordingly.0 -
Im sure they will find out one day but in the mean time its earning interest in my account is it morally wrong just to let it sit there?0

Well you know it's not yours. If you need advice from others on what's right and wrong...0

Contact them about it, query if your loan is up to date and they have not refunded ALL payments and you are missing a payment to the loan.0

I had exactly the same thing happen I contacted them about a month ago and the money is still sat in my account! Will not touch it but I'm damned if I'm going to contact them about it again especially as they sent me two rude letters saying I had gone overdrawn when they were the reason I went overdrawn!0

It's your credit file that you risk damaging.I had exactly the same thing happen I contacted them about a month ago and the money is still sat in my account! ????
How so, poster says they have money in the account, they have told halifax about but have done nothing about it.
Why should he have to stalk the halifax to tell them a second time?0 -
I'd leave it!
But you should be aware the system takes a while to update.
For example I cancelled my direct debit to pay my credit card, on the due date my card showed as paid and remained like that until the next statement, when the words "reversed" appeared next to the same.
Just see how it goes, you don't have to tell them, does't mean that you don't have to return it when asked, or most likely they just change the value on your account to balance things out :-)0 -
Because when the various refunds and direct debit indemnities get reconciled the loan account will be in arrears.MoneySaverLog wrote: »????

Yes, it will be the bank's job to put things right. But if it gets left they will report arrears to the CRAs which may impact ability to get credit elsewhere and the cost of credit card interest as and when other card companies review existing arrangements.0 -
