PGCE bursary payments

I have googled but not coming up with much...

can anyone tell me how the bursary payments for the PGCE are paid? Is it weekly/monthly/termly/in one lump sum/two lump sums or something else?

If it's weekly or monthly, it is paid over 52 weeks/12 months or less? If less, what number?

As there is a significant increase in the bursary size for the 12/13 academic year (for some subject areas), is there likely to be any change to whatever the current pattern has been?

many thanks for any light shed!

I read somewhere that it is split into ten payments from October to July.

I have not had confirmation from my training provider of this though: we apparently fill the forms in during enrollement and are given this kind of information.

thanks liney. It makes a difference to my friend who is looking at her finances from a tax credit point of view and children and needs to get as accurate a figure as possible for her income in this financial year. How this is paid can make a difference to the end figure and potentially her entitlement to things such as free prescriptions and free school meals. I had understood 10 payments from September - June so you are confirming that - it perhaps makes more sense it will be October given the admin involved. I guess she'll have to ask her training provider if they can be more accurate but I suspect it's a 'how long is a piece of string' question!

I spoke to tax credits about this very thing last week. They told me that the I do not need to declare the bursary, and actually the only thing they want to know about regarding my student finance is the Adult Dependent Grant, which I don't get. She should ask Tax Credits for confirmation.
