RBS Technical Issue

Checked my bank balance online today and everything OK. Went shopping and my card was declined, wife tried her card and it was declined.
Called customer service who were no help, they said that deposits have been dropped off my account and I had a balance of £0. So embarassing, I went home and checked online. A sizeable deposit made into my account a couple of days ago has disappeared.
CS cannot tell me why or what has gone wrong, they cant even tell me where my money has gone as the transaction is not even showing.
Incidentally, my son has not had his wages paid in to his account either.
Anyone else have same problems?

Theres a whole threading running about people having serious trouble with Natwest , RBS and Ulster bank (all of which are joined).

The banking system for these banks have been in chaos since Wednesday!

I personally am sitting at the min without my tax credits from Thursday , my monthly salary from Friday and Child benefit from today so you are far from alone lol
The loopy one has gone :j

Sounds like that they have had to restart their systems.

I hope whey they manage to rectify the problem, that my £100 has turned into £100,000. Quick withdrawal followed by a flight to Rio.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.

I am aware of Natwest, but only some of RBS. Why is account reposits disappearing and not debits? My concern is my account is showing a balance of £0 and I have in the region of £5k impending payments due.
I don't believe they are doing nearly enough to rectify the problems....this is a bank with our money in it, or used to be in it.
I have sent a strongly worded email to Mr Hester, I bet his money isn't affected.

If you read the other thread you will find answers. The debits run on a different server to credits, and it is across the RBS group so of course Hester would be affected. My account is now up to date, as are many others, however there is a huge backlog do just keep checking.

Typical of RBS that there isn't even a mention of problems on their digital banking website. Also, I read on the BBC that if you have had any problems you need to contact the bank. Looks like they wont fix things unless you bring it to their attention. Also in the report, the problems occured when someone tried to upgrade the software and corrupted their server. DFont they backup before doing anything like that? If they have backups, how long does it take to restore backups? Days?....I dont think so.

Can we just not merge all these NatWest related threads into one?

When you know nothing it's better to keep your mouth shut, you're just making yourself look like a fool.
