modify double garage to single garage

hello
we are thinking of pulling down half of our double garage to make our very small garden a bit larger. Has anyone done this? what are people's thoughts about this regarding house values/ resale etc etc.
We will still have 2 large parking spaces on the private drive at the front of the garage.

This is very difficult to quantify because it depends both on the property and the neighbourhood. For some types of property a double garage is expected, while for others it is not.
Your best bet would be to drop into a nearby estate agents (when they are not busy) and ask their opinion on likely impact on value.0 -
If you do it, try a car in the garage and open the doors to mark out the new wall, because I would bet that your double is not as wide as 2 usable singles.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. thanks for your feedback, we have produced some plans and photo mock ups to pass onto estate agents for their impact on value. I will ask a local builder for a budget cost, plus try and obtain the planning authority thoughts.
regarding size, I would agree that a standard single is very narrow, however to match the side return of brickwork on both sides of the door, the single garage would be about 3m wide which is slightly wider than a standard single.
We hope to get the planners to support the idea, then together with the builders estimate and the estate agents thoughts we can make a decision.
Its a shame most modern developments give really small gardens.0
