Applying for cards-question

Options
This is my first post here (round of applause please).

Im in a bit of a sticky situation....I am desperately trying to sell a house Im not living in (long story). In the meantime, Im using my credit card for everyday purchases as most of my salary is being eaten up by my mortgage and rental payments.

I took advantage of a 0% Halifax Offer on balance transfers (coming to an end next month) and Im currently using my Egg card for purchases (dangerously close to the limit on that one).

I have applied for a Virgin card to transfer the balance from both cards. I saw that Sainsburys are good for 0% on purchases.

If I apply for a Sainsburys card as well as the Virgin card will it affect my credit rating? (I had my Natwest card for years before I got on the Credit card tart bandwagon!) If I apply for the Sainsburys card as well as the Virgin one, that will be 4 cards in under a year....is that too many?

Once the house is sold I plan on paying off the debt...

If anyone can offer any advice it would be gratefully received...

Many thanks

MFL

Every time you apply for credit whether it be a credit card, loan, overdraft,... it leaves a foot print on your credit file. If there are too many footprints (or you file is poor to start with) then you will start getting turned down for credit.
Four credit cards is not a lot compared to what others on here have sucessfully applied, especially if you always make payments on time. The only downside I can see from what you have said is that you look close to using up all of your current available credit.
If you do get knocked back by either Sainsburys or Virgin try applying for your banks 0% CC as they will know your track record (or appeal the rejection).

Thank you Chadsman. I have always paid them ontime so hopefully it wont be a problem.
