or do still get the message re:getting a phonecall in the next few days?

Just applied to try and build my credit rating and it said I will get a call in next few days, they also sent me a credit agreement thing via email. Is this generally a good sign of acceptance or do ppl that get declined get this message too?

In my experience a decline is a decline, A phonecall is almost certain acceptance. the only details they do on phone is bank details to set up payment and go through what details you filled in and finally top it off with PPI pushing.

It's a condition of acceptance that there is telephone contact and most if not all decisions are made by a real person during the phone call. When I got my Vanquis card it was 4 weeks to the day from the application date until I could use it with card and PIN received. The average appears to be a phone call a week after applying and the card and PIN up to two weeks after that. I suppose it all depends on how busy they are.

During the phone call they try to sell you PPI and a £200 cash advance: It's not necessary to accept these to get accepted. I declined both and still got the card.

Their PPI is rebranded as Repayment Option Plan, don't let them push you into it. However it is a good idea to set up a direct debit for the minimum amount each month. That way you won't have to worry about late or missed payment charges, even if you forget to pay your bill.

Vanquis is good for building your credit rating, if used sensibly. The APR can be quite shocking but they are giving you a chance that other lenders won't. Just pay them on time, in full and the APR is irrelevant, you will see your credit rating improving as a result.

My experience was a little different. Got the phone call a few days after application looking for a Dd to be setup which I did for minimum payment. No mention of PPI. Then about 6 weeks later got my dear John rejection letter.
A couple of weeks later a DD appeared on my current account and a card appeared with a £250 limit at 59% interest !!!
Doubt we could ever truly know how they work.

i am very confused by vanquis. i had a card through them. i applied online and never heard from them until 4 weeks or so later they sent a card. i was fine for 2yrs but lost my job and went bankrupt. now i have a default for this card which was included in bankruptcy but they refuse to change it and since then i am now working again, i have offered to pay. they say they cant accept payment as i was bankrupt?? i am now discharged from bankruptcy and have tried to pay them but they wont let me, i really dont understand?? when i first applied i never had any calls the card just randomly arrived. capital 1 are the same they send you the credit agreement and t&c's but you never here from them.
