TV Licensing

Despite advertising the license fee as £121 for a year (colour TV), it will only be valid until the end of the previous month of the next year in which purchased. I bought mine on March 22nd - valid until February 28th 2006. How is that one years viewing? No other 'company' would be allowed to get away with this.

Surely there is a Trading Standards issue here...

Car tax works the same way. You have to buy a complete calender month with no discount for part months.

Paid the whole lot by debit card - purely because I resent giving them any more than I have to, as they charge 'a bit more' (in their own words) for paying by Direct Debit.

But you can cash in full months worth.

On the other hand you can transfer a TV licence mid month if you move. And in most circumstances you will need one whereever you move to. If you play it right you will only get ripped off once. With this government I'd call that a success! :j
