Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Saturday 23rd June. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all,
Cant believe the daily has not been started yet, hopefully you are all having a good lay in.
Beautiful day here got wm on load 1 of 3 , will get it all hung out today should dry nicely.
Dropping dd off at work at 9.30, she is working all day, and OH is at the boot sale this morning, got a few little jobs for him to do when he gets back.:D
Dinner tonight will involve one of the biggest chickens I have ever seen, its massive, and will do a good few meals.
Need to hoover through today, and have a general tidy, will go and see my dad tonight.
Have good days all xx

Morning all,
Nice and sunny here so I'll be spending the day in the garden and having DGD2 to "help"
Managed to get lots of window cleaning done y/day. JackieO I cleaned the insides as it rained allday. Might get the outsides done today.
WM & BM on, I've swished the bathrooms and moped the kitchen floor. That's all the h/work I'm going to do as I need to get outside and make the most of the weather.
AUNTYMABEL, Your reply to my post made me laugh, "Bang to rights and no mistake" hahaha.
Hope you all have a good w/end.0 -
Morning RR and all who follow.
I can see patches of blue sky! Although the clouds are racing over quite quickly, it looks fairly promising that it might stay dry.
DD2s tummy bug has now cleared and DH spent all day either in bed or the bathroom. He had a good nights sleep though so I'm hoping he's over the worst. DD1 escaped off to London with friends for the weekend so it's been a cheap food week with hardly anything being eaten, aside from toast and tea.
I think I can scrape one load of washing together so will get that on in a bit. Kitchen needs a good going over and I might treat the fridge to a scrub out.
Will do something with chicken breasts tonight, plain with rice for those with dodgy tums still and something a bit tastier for me.
Had an AF order through this week, I'm always shocked just how much you can get for your money. My stores are now all full and it's saved me a fortune. I'm trying to get a really good overstock in to buffer us incase of financial changes (which are imminent). I've already stocked up and have a years worth of all toiletries stashed away. By shopping clever using special offers I ore than halved what I'd normally spend.
Right, more tea needed to kick start the day."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Morning RR & all who cross/follow.
Hubby's been fed & dropped at work, DW needs emptying, WM has finished 1st load & started on 2nd.
I need to go shopping, DD is visiting tomorrow with the fosterchildren & I need to buy something they will eat, their mum is a vegetarian but doesn't eat vegetables, so they have had a very strange diet, DD is allowed to feed them whatever they ask for so doesn't have to stick to vegetarian diet for them. I don't mind what they have but need some ideas, I don't want to stress them out by giving them something they don't like. I want to try & buy them a colouring or sticker book each too. I have a pile of school shirts sent to me by a very kind MSE'r, for youngest foster child who is 6 but the size of a 4 year old.
Time I made a start on some chores.
Have a good day everyone
Hugs Hester

Good morning redruby and all,
I'm tired and grumpy today. Hubby kept me awake most of the night fidgetting and complaining of the heat. When he did go off to sleep i think i was overtired and couldnt sleep myself so i spent a good hour and a half gazing up at the ceiling and playing around with my phone.
Managed to drop off around 5 then the dogs woke me up. Went back to bed, nodded off and next thing i knew hubby was playing Billy Idol - Rebel Yell in the room next to me at full blast so he had a few choice words slung in his direction. Then i noticed the mud trodden up the stairs by the youngest when he came home last night.... Thats it, he is banned from wearing shoes upstairs. Ive told him before and he's obviously ignored me so he will get a tongue lashing when he wakes up. I spend a lot of time and effort ensuring our home is clean and tidy and i'll be damned if i'll let him spoil it.
Anyway, got loads to moan about but i'll spare you all my misery.
Ive had my bath, need to get dressed and then it will be shopping later. Got some items listed on Ebay that will be finishing in an hour or two and some have sold already and i'm hoping for more so that i can pay for a new headboard for the bed. Need to go to the bank, need to go grocery shopping and also need to get some hayfever tablets for my son who is suffering quite badly at the moment even though the weather is so wet.
Have a bright and sunny day all and i hope the rain keeps off for all of us.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Morning :hello:
I'm a bit annoyed, just lost my third lost bottle of fizz. Champagne bottles are supposed to be the strongest but it can't contain HFW's elderflower champagne. The lids stay firmly on but the bottles explode. I've PMed Pooky for advice, just in case she doesn't see this post
We've built a new shelter for the girls. They crowd under the little one when it rains, but now they can move about and they have room for their food tray too. They've discovered that if they stand on top of it and jump, they can reach the leaves on the willow tree so they're happily munching on those atm
Not much going on here, just pottering about.Bulletproof0 -
Morning all, dry at the moment but no sun yet. Not doing much indoors today as off to see my sisters' new house. My other sister and one of my brothers are coming down too so we will have fun catching up. WM went on twice yesterday , some is in TD will leave rest and see what it's like tomorrow. sistercasGlad you found your DD's prom dress, my DD needed a dress for graduation, she found one on AS*S sent for it and she loves it so no shopping for us:j Shame about your fizz Tru hope the hens enjoy their new shelter.
Enjoy your day with the fosterkids HH the most popular dinner amongst my class of 6 and 7 year olds is spag bol. Welcome to caleyles and new leafmum
Have a good day all, hope you get some sun:)£180.00 in 'sistercas'fund
Hope is like the sun, which, as we journey toward it, casts the shadow of our burden behind us.

Good morning all, bright and sunny here in north Kent (long may it last
).I have just been drinking my coffee and wondering what to do today I have quite a bit on, but its a case of which is the most important bits to do first.
1. As its sunny I could go into the garden (read overgrown jungle)and try to tidy it up a bit.Even the patio has weeds growing a foot high in between the slabs
2. do some more baking for the grandsons to take with me tomorrow when I go there (they are like locusts and decesnd upon me when I arrive )
3. carry on with my furniture renovating as I have a small bedroom bedside cupboard that wants sanding down and undercoating
4.paint the small lobby between my kitchen and bathroom as its well overdue, plus finish off the small bit in the bathroom where I filled in a hole in the wall and it now needs painting to match the rest of the wall
5 or none of the above but just sit and think about it:)
Decisions, decisions:) at least I have no shopping to do but a list of jobs to be getting on with instead of sitting here looking out of the window and watching two collared dove fighting over a lady collared dove.
Oh well I'm sure once I get some more coffee down my neck, my get up and go will kick in and I will motivate myself.:rotfl:
Meanwhile I hope you all have a good weekend and I shall be cheering on the english chaps tomorrow night fingers crossed they do well.
Take care everyone
JackieO xxx
P.S. one problem solved as DGS Ben has just phoned and volunteered to come this morning and strim the jungle in the garden so thats one job sorted a few sausage sarnies should keep him toiling for awhile I think .The day is improving by the minute:):)

Morning all
Welcome newbies
Not sure what I'm up to today. I need to buy my friend a birthday present, don't really feel like going to the main town but also haven't seen my 'shopping' friends for ages so if they are about I may go in and meet them. Tonight I'm off out for my friends 30th birthday, it's flakey friend actually! I've still hardly seen her this year but she is getting better. She is now 5months pregnant so is a little annoyed that her planned 30th - moulin rouge stylee weekend in Paris - has been spoilt by bubba :rotfl:. But she is looking forward to the baby coming. Instead we are going to a Japanese restaurant.
OS wise - little tidy and hoover needed. I did manage to put WM on yday, most stuff dried on airer outside and the in overnight, but last fe bits are outside getting an air before the rain comes. I didn't make curry yday but will do today if I don't go out.
Have a good day all
