unless car is one owner how would seller know if its had any accidents before they owned it?
how do you know your not buying a cloned ringer?
most cars are clocked before they see their first mot so more importantly if buying at the top of the market has it got a sustainable trail of servicing paperwork?
this is why dealers charge a little bit more at initial purchase
it doesnt all go on kipper ties and dreadful coffee you know
mine goes on fresh bunting:D0 -

this is why dealers charge a little bit more at initial purchase really, it's all to benefit the customer? and here was me thinking it was so they could make a profit.

OP, if you want a HPI check then the only people who can provide it are HPI, a quick google will find the necessary information.0 -
Also, an Hpi check won't cover for a car that has a 'Log Book loan' taken out against it.
Have first hand experience of this when the Bailiffs came and took a neighbours car.......they had a receipt (bought from the trade) and an updated Hpi report, Reg doc in their name.....in other words......everthing legit (or so they thought). And don't expect the Police to be any help....not interested.
So a car they had paid £4,500 for 12 months earlier was taken, Log book loan Co (Sharks) said she could buy it from them for £2000 !!! needless to say, she didn't bother. To get her £4,500 back she had to pursue the person who took out the loan but the loan co, would not furnish her with any details other than "Start with the previous owner" but if they haven't got any money then no Court on earth could get money from them
