How long between survey and mortgage offer?

We had a survey (no major problems found) on 22 Feb and are still waiting for our offer. The Abbey asked for further details and we have provided them. Kept pestering the broker to chase this but he kept saying that's its on the way and there shouldnt be a problem.

Is it normal to wait over 3 weeks between survey and offer?

we have just gone into our 4th week of waiting for the offer. Our broker says its running smoothly and not to worry so am trying not to lol. So if your broker is saying the same try not to worry too much :-)

Just to put our minds at ease ... is it common for the mortgage offer to not be given after the bank paid for the survey?
  • Depends how quickly the survayor returns his forms to the lender. Has the broker filled out the application forms fully and do you have a good credit score? I normally get an offer through within 2 weeks.

Our Survey was the 2nd March and we had the offer yesterday 16 March so that's exactly 2 weeks and we pushed for that... they (the lenders) asked for more info about 4 day's ago which I personally hand delivered to the broker that evening for him to fax the next day.

We are with Abbey and it took 2 or 3 days from the survey to receiving our offer.

Ours took a while but this was because we had a homebuyers report not just a valuation and the surveyor took 10 days to type up his report, even though he had confirmed by phone there were no problems. From him actually delivering the written report to us, and our receiving the offer was 2 working days. Can you phone surveyor direct to make sure he's done all the paperwork?

We also got a homebuyers report. We know that the Abbey received it because the report came from the Abbey. It was received on 27th Feb. We also got another copy from the surveyor.

Checked with solicitors, they have not received mortgage offer too , just in case ours ot lost in post.

Our mortgage app was done on the Saturday (paid the fees) the valuation was done on the Wednesday, we got the offer on the Friday so all very quick, this was with Halifax.
House purchase completed 6th December whole process took 4 months.

Hang in there everyone it is worth it
