Travel Company booked wrong hotel

I hope this is the correct place to post and hopefully you can help. My husband booked a package holiday to Greece with an online holiday company. Having ensured the booking agent had the correct details prior to booking, we were shocked to find out we had been booked into the wrong hotel. Despite agreeing that the booking agent had made a mistake, the holiday company were not able to change the booking as the hotel we wanted no longer had availability. The company were not very helpful and their attutide was a mistake has been made but nothing can be done now. The hotel we stayed in was not as nice as the one we had asked for and this ruined our enjoyment.

Now that we have returned from our holiday, I am going to complain because I think we are due compensation for this mistake.

My question is, is this covered by the package travel regulations or any other regulations which I could quote in my letter to them.

Many thanks

MKC

Did you visit the other hotel and ask if they had a vacancy, I bet they did.

If you knew the hotel wasn't as nice -why didn't you just reject the booking at the time of the mistake and get a full refund and then book elsewhere ?

Frankly by accepting the second hotel trying to claim money back "as this hotel wasn't as nice" isn't going to cut it now. It'd be like me asking MacDonalds to refund me after I'd eaten their burger not because there was anything wrong it it was jusrt I preferred Burger King.

No-one forced you to accept the second hotel after all -it was your choice to do so.

There are so many posts these days from new posters with similar issues that are really not worth pursuing.. In most cases the OP is never seen again after the first post
