Hi
I am looking to book flights to Dublin from Manchester for a lads weekend for my OH in October 2012.
I have just checked both Ryanair and Aer Lingus (Aer Lingus being the better times for him) and the prices are coming up around £67 return. Does anybody know whether it is worth waiting until later in the summer and whether the prices with go lower, his friend has advised him to wait a bit but his flights are from Gatwick and from experience they are always a lot lower than Manchester.
Any advice would be much appreciated to help me save a few pounds.
Many thanks

The trouble is, how would you feel if you waited and the price went up to £100 or more?
Nobody knows what's going to happen to airline prices but the general rule is that they can only go up. If you think a price is reasonable then pay it - and don't check again. For years, people got so used to being able to fly anywhere in Europe for 99p. Those days have gone.
The first time I flew to Dublin was in the late 80s and I think I paid about £200. £67 sounds a bargain now.0 -
Thanks Doshwaster,
The reason I asked is that I know I always get Ryanair emails with their promotional fares, so wondered whether this was the case with Aer Lingus. I do not have experience of flights to Dublin so do not know what is a reasonable price, especially as it is quite out of season in October.
Thanks again

My daughter just went on the ferry with two nights in the YHA for £44. Perhaps you could look at ferry prices.0

I'm looking at Ryanair October flights and I think you'll find the best deals about 6 weeks before. Take my wine away for a week if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure I won't be. :beer:0 -
October clashes with half term for many people, if the plan is to travel towards the end of October, be careful. I think the fare seems reasonable, and agreed Aer Lingus is way better than Ryanair, just watch the scrum in Terminal 3 at Manchester when the gate is announced for Ryanair0

My son lives in Ireland and I fly over regularly with Ryanair. Because my visits have to fit in with their lifestyle I just book when I get a reasonable price. Was over last weekend and the all in price was £66.00 return from Edinburgh. Reasonable I think.
Edited to say that Aer Lingus flights always a lot more expensive in my experience and flight times not so good from my point of view.0
