I was hoping to appeal to the rebels and ask if they would pay the minimum as a token and then stay as long as they want and then ignore the demands to pay the 'fine'.

Who would they be then? You have the wrong idea about this forum I think except that we would not pay a fake 'fine' as we aren't that daft.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

You'd walk back to save 50p if you were there for the morning? Or just pay for two but stay longer?

Try this one, it's turning into a good, "no need to pay, it's got enough spaces for us" thread. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/53981739#Comment_53981739

That's not the way we roll here (despite what Mikey thinks based on one flippant comment made in a single post). If payment is due then it should be paid.

Pay the due fee, looking at local parking facilities £5 seems to be for a 24 hour ticket. So should your post read £5 3 hours or over?

The point about that is motorway service stations are there for people to take a break from driving, there are safety concerns and we should stop driving every few hours. The highways agency has specific advice on this. If someone falls asleep in a vehicle and stays for 4 hours they obviously need the rest. If someone falls asleep at the wheel it kills.

So don't blur the issues they separate, one is about retail therapy the other is about road safety
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

Post on the other thread and I'd happily discess it on there.

You brought it up here, the context would be lost on there. So it deserves a reply because you appear to say that we endorse a free for all and landowners shouldn't be paid. In the case of service stations there should be no restrictions on parking. The landowner by the way is normally the government, the government through the highways agency says we should take regular breaks from driving.
