Good value multi CD stereo?

Options
OK our old stereo has packed up after 8 years and am looking for a replacement, compact size, large power output definitely NOT required, small room in town house!
So just radio and 5 CD player, iPod connector would be good but not essential.
Plus what do I do with the good old speakers?

Multi-CD changers seem to be getting rare these days - probably because they tend to be large and mechanically complex.

Is it just the CD part of your old system that has failed? If it has line level inputs spare, you could add this to it for £140:

If you get the iPod dock, you can shuffle tracks on the iPod - which is presumably what you used the 5-disc player for...?

Thanks, have been thinking maybe a single CD with iPod dock.
Found this on Ebay, item 290729016777 what do you think, seems cheap enough and if the speakers are cr+p I can use my existing ones.

Impossible to say without listening to it! I love the "Max power 240W" - which probably means 10W RMS/channel, but as you say, volume is not important.

Don't assume that you will be able to use your old speakers. It's not uncommon these days for the maker to put the amplifier components inside one or both of the speakers to make the main unit smaller, which may mean your old speakers simply won't be compatible without additional work.

What I bought was a Teac iPod dock from Richer Sounds..only £80 and it sounds great for that money.

As well as playing your iPod it also plays from a USB flash drive you slot in the back. I have 2000 songs on there.
I shot a vein in my neck and coughed up a Quaalude.

  • It doesn't come with speakers so you could try your old ones with it.

While it doesn't play multiple CDs it does more or less everything else you would want.

    I'm very pleased with it.
