    Evening all.

My, it's been a funny couple of days. As you may have heard, the IOW festival is on this weekend. We had to go to Southampton yesterday - an appointment we couldn't miss - and going over was a doddle. Then we had to join the thousands of festival-goers to get back here. It took us nearly 2 hours to get about half a mile from the ferry before we could get on to one of the back roads and get home. Apparently some people had to spend the night in their car and at one point there were 4 ferry boats stacked up waiting to unload their passengers. Now we are hunkered down to sit out the siege and looking at the way the trees are bending and swaying it won't be too long before we are seeing flying tents. Poor souls.

Welcome Caleyles you'll soon get us all sorted out.
Also welcome newleafmum, I am so impressed with all your plans. You make me feel ashamed of my idleness and procrastination.
WS: if you do your ironing I promise that I'll have a go at mine. All my winter clothes are still in a huge bag on my bedroom floor and if this weather goes on some of them will be seeing the light of day sooner than they expected.

Every day I write down my plans for the work I intend to do. Today's included ironing (ha ha ha,) decluttering my work station shelves, going through the freezer and sorting it out into vague categories and writing a chatty letter to a good friend.
So, (sorry Molly) why have I spent the day chatting to DS who popped in because he couldn't get to where he was supposed to be working, (traffic chaos) looking through cookery books to see if I could find something new to cook for the drop-in, (I couldn't so it will be apple crumble again,) reading the paper and doing all the puzzles therein, reading the local paper to see if there was anything interesting in it, (there wasn't) eating some soft cream crackers with too much butter and cheese and generally dossing. Eat your heart out Flylady.

    OS? What's that?

I REALLY WILL TRY to do better tomorrow.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Monnagran - three hours ironing of stuff that is going out to sell/donate - I have cleared the dining room table for the first time in living memory - and I have a sore right arm. It is a new iron, but I am not sure how long it will last at this rate.

Besides, you've been doing essential work, recharging the batteries. You cannot do anything of use on flat batteries. And also sitting out dreadful weather and recovering from the travel yesterday. Absolutely necessary ;)

As head has been elsewhere I've not really paid attention to the news. We bank with natwest. H's wages don't appear to have gone in so the likelihood my DDs wont have gone out is pretty big. I reckon I should clear my schedule Monday in order to spend a long time in the phone sorting out DDs not been paid if this problem doesn't get sorted.
Still we have cash in the house, food in the freezer so shall keep calm and carry on ;)

Bitsy, if you have a Saturday branch near you, it will be open til 6 tomorrow AND open 9 - 12 noon on Sunday...

WS: You are beyond generous. I can almost believe that what I have been doing all day is the result of careful thought and good intentions instead of sheer laziness.

Say some more. I love it.

    Welcome caleyles and newleafmum

Bitsy  I hope things are sorted soon. I know that a lot of people have been put into dire straits because of this C..K up at least being OS means that you have a good store cupboard, which is never a bad thing.

I am still not feeling right after the fall last week and my leg is black so I have managed to get an appointment with my proper GP on Tuesday, the one I saw last week was useless and DH was fuming when we got out of the surgery.

DH's Aunt's funeral is 2 weeks today and DH is going to see his Dad tomorrow so that we can find out where to send flowers etc.

monnogran I can't stand or sit long enough to do the ironing so DD has the joy of that job and DS is in training :D If you have a glut of apples why not do an apple sponge instead of crumble, It is easy peasy spread the apples in the base of a dish cover with a bog standard sponge and bung it in the oven serve with custard or ice cream it is also nice if you sprinkle some pre soaked sultanas in with the apples, use any fruit you like really and I have also done it with a jar of mincemeat

Thanks BB. I might well do that. It would be a change from crumble or tart.
I think I should really be in bed. And so should you.

    Nighty night.
