Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Friday 22nd June. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all,

Its Friday :j:j seems to have been a long week, never mind, bit of an early finish today, :D

Meatballs for dinner tonight, with pasta for the others, I shall have salad with mine.

Need to do a wash tonight and get it on the airer, looks like rain all weekend, a week today and we fly off for a weeks sun, so looking forward to that.

Topsy, good luck with your interview.xx

Have good days all xx

Good Morning Ruby & all to follow.

No rain here at the moment :) will get some washing on pronto. In the office doing some essential stuff then will potter around the house.

OH is home and we are waiting for a phone call from our mechanics to pick up a lorry - its quite far away so when we head out will be some time.

Not sure what is for dinner tonight, will have a route around in the freezer in a mo, being quite good at emptying it out now, mind you dont know when it will be worth stocking up with barbecue stuff :o

Nothing much else happening, and thats they way I like it nowdays :rotfl:

    Happy Friday everyone.x

    Morning all,
Up early with DGD so thought I'd get on and dice some beef, onions, carrots etc and get the casserole in the sc for dinner tonight. We should be having lots of salad type meals but it seems like it's winter outside so thought I'd do some winter type meal. When will the rain ever stop.
Going with DD2 taking DGD3 swimming later, she's 7mths old and has had lessons for the last 3mths. DGD2 wont be going to playschool today as she still has a litte bottom sickness. It's been nearly a week now since we all caught the bug, it seems to be nationwide as lots of my friends miles away have it also.
This afternoon out will come the vinegar as the windows need cleaning, it's gonna take ages doing 11 rooms, and 4 double french windows that DGD can't resist leaving her hand prints all over.
Most of the ironing done y/day, only 6 shirts to do.
Hope it's a good day for all.

    Morning everyone

Love and hugs to those that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Cloudy with sun trying to break through the clouds but very windy and ground is absolutely saturated as it's been raining at some point during the night.

DH up and off to work at stupid early.

Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket, beans/veg - nice easy dinner! Was a busy bee all day yesterday as needed to get stuck into the "to do" list, most of which I did get completed. Went to hairdressers and straight onto nearby town to the train station to collect tickets I'd bought and paid for on-line - went to desk to ask where the self service machine was and the kind gentleman said he could do the print out for me and within 2 minutes I'd got the tickets and was back out the door - was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was! Did lots of washing, drying and ironing, housework, partially packed the bag for going away, cleared a couple of places that are being used as a dumping ground, did some work on pc for our rally, and other emails etc, managed to get an on-line shop booked for today between 2-4pm - thought this would buy me some more time today and had some vouchers to use up.

I'm meeting my sister in town later to go to the florists to choose the flowers - my sisters and myself are going to have 1 floral tribute from us adults and then another from the children. I know a lot of people view flowers as a waste of money - but Aunt loved her garden and did do gardening whilst she was fit and able and she always went every week (again when she was well) to the cemetery to put flowers on her mum & dad's (my grandparents) grave. She didn't ever get married, or have children so we were her closest family - she always remembered the children too, sending them magazines/gifts etc, never forgot them at Christmas etc, hubby and I feel that's the right thing to do. She didn't state a preference for family flowers only/no flowers and there will be a sizeable donation going to a Cancer charity too.

Have a good Friday everyone x

Hugs to those that want/need them, keep safe and well x

Morning all, damp and dreary here today so Jack and I had a wet walk. Off to school in a minute, hopefully I can leave early tonight as I've been rather late leaving every day this week. Must do the washing tonight, we're having an easy dinner of pizza and garlic bread. DD is going to tidy house as she needs some money to go out so I will pay her to do cleaning. She is applying for loads of jobs and has signed on. Hugs to all in need, Good luck with your plans Bitsy and hope your DD's last exam goes well sistercas.
Welcome back to all the MIA posters. Have a good day all.:)

Good Morning all, well the sun was up and shining at 6 this morning so I put my small bit of washing that I did last night on the line I am hoping it will get a good blow before the rain comes later.Clouding up a little at the moment .
History club this afternoon and this morning i am doing some more baking for the boys over the weekend.
Nmlc <hugs> and hope you manage to get everything done you sound as though your keeping busy
sistercas good luck to your DD with her exams DGS Ben has three more to do next week then he too is finished
betheebee hope you manage to get your windows done before it rains.I only do the insides as my window cleaner does the outsides, and I can almost guarantee whenever I clean them, down comes the rain.
Its been weird having a couple of days off this week from the school run as I am so used to scampering off at 8.00 in the morning I still get up early as I can't lie in bed once I'm awake I think of all the things I could be doing :).I sorted out the conservatory yesterday and got rid of a lot of old junk to the tip nothing even worth putting into the CS.and it looks nice and tidy in there/I have a white table with two drop leaves in there that I use for painting small bits on and at the moment its covered in newspaper and today if I have a minute I will undercoat a couple of small shelves that need repaintin for DGS Mikeys bedroom .They were his sisters when she lived at home and were painted lavender.I shall gloss white them and see if I can find a Ben 10 transfer for the tops as his bedroom theme is Ben 10.I primed and undercoated the bedroom chair which I am renovating and now have to decide what colour to top coat it with .The seat of the chair is a sort of taupe/mink colour and my spare room carpet is a red wine colour so I will have to get my charts out and see what will match. It was only an old spare dining room chair that was stuck in the cupboard under the stairs and I thought the seat was in good condition it was just the dark brown wood that was not in keeping with a bedroom so its been stripped and sanded and is now ready for a top coat.I really enjoy renovating old junk furniture and find it very relaxing to turn something that looks rubbish into something a bit different.Makes a change from knitting at least :):)
Right well time I got a wriggle on.Have a good Friday everyone whatever you are doing
    Cheers JackieO xxx

P.S. meant to add DGS Danny popped in last night and I gave him a big hug and made him laugh as I said 'Well William and Kate had a break so maybe a break will do you both good 'He's a very sensible young mand and is looking on the break as a positive thing .Chloe has a big exam coming up at Hendon, plus her Mum has been poorly so maybe things just got on top of her a bit.She is a dear little thing and I know Danny will miss her but he too has a lot going on at work at the moment so he said he will be working extra hours as his show contract ends next month and he's applied for other shows to work on whilst his show has an 8 week break.Lots of TLC from his Granny will help as well hopefully.

RR - It has indeed been a looooooooooong week :(

I too have an early finish :) but all I plan to do is a little food shop and then cwtch in on sofa. I still feel a bit rough, have a horrible cough :( which I know will last for a few weeks now. I just need some TLC. The weather isn't helping either, pouring down still!

I'm starving today, despite already having cereal and a banana! Must be a sign that my cold is going though.

OS wise - dishes washed, if I feel up to it I will cook a big veggie curry tonight and freeze the LO's.

    Have a good day all
